Cheryl Samuels, President
Cheryl Samuels is a pioneering, innovative award winning HR professional in the London NHS system, and is the co-founder of the social movement for change known as #InclusiveHR. The social movement for change focuses on acknowledging and addressing the racial inequities that exist within the HR & OD profession, and implores the HR & OD profession to become exemplars and to lead with credibility. She is a multiple award winning leader who has recently been appointed as the People Director at Evelina Women’s and Children’s Clinical Group, which is part of Guys and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust.
Her extensive experience includes, Deputy Director roles working in a number of NHS Trusts as well as working for NHS England, both nationally and regionally. She has over 20 years as a qualified and registered CIPD practitioner, with over 15 years senior operational and strategic management experience. She has led and delivered core HR services, led large scale transformation organisational development programmes in acute, mental health and primary care services with a clear commitment to culture change and inclusivity. Before joining the NHS, she worked for a number of years for the BMA representing hospital doctors, public health doctors, GPs and medical students in employment disputes.
Cheryl holds Fellow status of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD). In 2014 she successfully established the Deputy Directors of HR Network which continues to thrive. As an acclaimed thought leader, she is well known in the NHS and in the HR profession, often speaking publicly on a workforce related matters with an equality and inclusion lens. As a system leader she is passionate about people practices, social justice and embracing the future and digital advancements that positively change the workplace.
